Rising Stars at the Concertgebouw: Pianist Mariam Batiashvili
Over het evenement
Renew your acquaintance with a star of the future — or meet her for the very first time. The winner of the 2014 Liszt Prize, Batiashvili electrified the Concertgebouw with her debut barely hours later.
Unsurprisingly, Liszt forms the bulk of Batiashvili's program, including the Sonata in B minor and the fiendishly demanding Tarantella. However, as a member of the European Concert Halls Rising Stars program, new music is also an important part of her repertoire, and the Dutch premiere of a work by Spanish composer Mikel Urquiza provides a contrast to Liszt's romanticism.
