Puccini, Heine & Schumann

Following 'Messa di Gloria', an early piece by the well known composer Puccini, three poems of Heinrich Heine are given the stage in the Tonhalle.

In addition, the Orchestra of the Westdeutsche Symphoniker under the direction of Ulrich Brall, play Robert Schumann's 'Third Symphony', known as the 'Rheinische'. This piece mirrors the Rhenisch happiness and is Schumann's greatest legacy to the city of Düsseldorf where he worked from 1850 to 1854 as musical director.

The düsseldorf festival! — formerly known as the altstadtherbst kulturfestival — presents in its 22nd edition a variety of classical music, contemporary dance and music, and sacred music. The Hilliard Ensemble, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui's Dance Company, Vokalensemble Ars Cantandi, or the Smith Quartet are only a few international artists to be named.
