Musica a Palazzo: Il barbiere di Siviglia

Over het evenement

Gioacchino Rossini's lyric opera 'The Barber of Seville' is performed in the unique atmosphere of the Palazzo Barbarigo‐Minotto in Venice.

The libretto by Sterbini is based on a comedy of the same name by Beaumarchais. The story takes place in the 17th century, making the salons of the Palazzo Barbarigo‐Minotto, with their magnificent baroque furnishings, an ideal stage. The opera's two acts are performed in three different rooms: Portego (central hall), Sala Tiepolo, and the Camera da letto (bedroom with alcove).

The artists move through the rooms, creating a theatre 'in the round', and practically bringing the audience into the action of Rossini's highly entertaining opera. The elegant costumes by Anthony Knight are inspired by those of the era, and candlelight contributes to the historical ambience. The splendor of the palazzo's rooms on the Grand Canal can also be appreciated during intermissions.

This extraordinary operatic production promises an unforgettable experience in Venice.
