Theater an der Wien presents Charpentier's and Couperin's Leçons de ténèbres as part of the Easter festival, Osterklang.

Leçons de ténèbres — Tenebrae Readings are vocal pieces composed for the liturgies of Holy Week, 1714. In particular, the contemplative and elegiac melismas of the voices reflect the painful Passion and death of Jesus Christ. This specific genre of French Baroque met its peak in the 17th century and has since been almost completely forgotten.
