Julien Beaudiment & Marie‐Pierre Langlamet

Over het evenement

Julien Beaudiment's and Marie‐Pierre Langlamet's concert programme spotlights several French masters, and begins with a special piece with an indication BWV 1020, mistakenly attributed to the composer’s father, C. P. E. Bach. This “academic error” continues to be a treasured monument to the memory of J. S. Bach, and a work of inspired fantasy.

Renowned flautist Julien Beaudiment brilliantly represents the French flute school. Born in 1978, he crossed the Channel to study at the Guildhall School of Music in London. He stayed there for two years, before finishing his studies at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris. At the age of 22 Beaudiment was appointed principal flute at the Orchestre de l'Opéra National de Lyon. Between 2005 and 2006 he was appointed principal flute of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. He is currently the only French flautist to have held this position in a great British Orchestra. A chamber music enthusiast, he is a laureate of the 50th Barcelona International Sonata Competition. As a soloist, he is a regular guest of numerous prestigious festivals and concert series across the world, among others the Rheingau Festival, Mostly Mozart in London, the Varna Festival and concert series in Tokyo, Seoul and Peking.

French harpist Marie‐Pierre Langlamet has won several international competitions, among others receiving first prize at the Concert Artists Guild in New York in 1989 and in 1992 the Harp Competition in Israel, one of the most prestigious accolades for this instrument. Marie‐Pierre Langlamet appears all over the world as a soloist with leading orchestras. She was deputy principal harpist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York, and in 1993 joined the Berliner Philharmoniker. She has received several awards for artistic achievements, such as the Juventus bestowed by the European Council and a 2009 Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture for her contribution to French music. She teaches at the Herbert von Karajan Academy and the Berlin University of the Arts.
