Freiburg Baroque Orchestra: Grafenegg Summer Festival

The Grafenegg summer festival’s second week keeps up the heady pace set by the first with a programme filled with delectable treats. This evening it’s the turn of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra to take to the stage. One of the best ensembles performing music from the baroque period, the Freiburg orchestra is ably supported by counter tenor Bejun Mehta and violinist Gottfried von der Goltz.

Centre stage is the work of Georg Friedrich Handel, a composer famed both in his own time as in ours for his brilliant operas, oratorios, anthems, and organ concertos. Tonight the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra will perform a wide and discerning selection of Handel’s work including movements from his Concerto Grosso as well as a wide variety of operas.
