Christoph Eschenbach, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia

Over het evenement

The principal violin and viola of the Santa Cecilia Orchestra, Roberto Gonzalez‐Monjas and Simone Briatore, will join conductor Christoph Eschenbach to perform one of the loveliest, most original of Mozart's works, the Sinfonia Concertante K364.

The ‘friendly rivalry' that unites and contrasts the two solo instruments is offset by the orchestra, acting as a third participant that both unifies and regulates them, making this work an engaging exchange of ideas amongst equals — very much in the eighteenth‐century spirit.

Also on the program is the Fifth Symphony by Shostakovich, which is among the composer's best‐known works.
