Carte Blanche, Norwegian National Contemporary Dance Company: World Premiere
Over het evenement
As part of the Dijon Opera’s Scandinavian season, discover the works of two renowned choreographers premiered by a leading dance company.
Carte Blanche, the Norwegian contemporary dance company, which has the particularity of only working with choreographers invited for each creation, proposes this two‐part performance in co‐production with the Oslo Opera. The second part is a reprise of the choreography Ten Duets on a Theme of Rescue by Crystal Pite. This unique art juxtaposes unexpected movements to create a sense of surprise and apprehension, as witnessed in the evocative power of Dark Matters, presented at Dijon in April 2011.
The first part is a commission from the company to Hooman Sharifi, the Norwegian choreographer of Iranian origin who combines influences from the world of hip‐hop and street jazz with the techniques of classical ballet and modern dance. These choreographies, mixing theatre, dance and visual arts, exude an incredible intensity and follow his credo: “Art is politics”.
