Carmina Latina: Polyphony of the Iberian Americas at Versailles
Over het evenement
Take a journey to new and undiscovered musical worlds. Leonardo García Alarcón leads the Cappella Mediterranea on a voyage of discovery, through music lost and forgotten for many centuries.
Throughout the colonisation of the Americas, the ecclesiastical musical traditions of Spain and Portugal made their way to the New World. Treasure troves of music lost to European sources remain to this day in the churches of Central and South America, alongside a wealth of music inspired by or adapted to local traditions. Alarcón creates a hymn to the Divine that draws on these sources, as well as the music of those who stayed behind.
