Opera lovers are in for a special treat this year as the stunning Artscape Opera House in Cape Town plays host to an array of today’s leading operatic talents. This November the city’s premier music venue will play host to the African debut of Grammy and Pulitzer award‐winning composer Dominick Argento’s Postcard from Morocco, an exotic one‐act opera that blends Viennese operetta, Wagnerian themes, cabaret, and the blues.

An absurdist story that engages with the timeless theme of travellers and the personal baggage—literal and metaphorical—that they carry with them, Argento’s Postcard from Morocco is musically audacious, witty, and insightful in equal measure. Staged in the stunning surroundings of Cape Town’s premier arts and music venue, the Artscape Opera House, this production showcases the best of South Africa’s up‐and‐coming generation of musical talent.
