Anna Bolena
Over het evenement
The tale of the tragic fate of the second wife of Henry VIII, Anne Boleyn, will be performed at the National Moravian‐Silesian Theatre this season.
Anna Bolena is a tragic character, deeply hurt, yet dignified and majestic – a completely different picture from how she is depicted in historical sources. The story of the innocent English queen sentenced to death by her heartless husband Henry VIII who fell out of love with her touched deeply the audience already at the time the opera was written. By circumstance, however, the opera was forgotten only to be discovered again in 1950s in connection with Marie Callas and her masterful voice. In recent times the opera became popular thanks to phenomenal singers Edita Gruberová and Anna Netrebko. Until now, Anna Bolena has not been staged in Ostrava. The leading part will be sung by excellent soloists Jana Šrejma Kačírková and Agnieszka Bochenek‐Osiecka.
