Het Russische volksverhaal van Petrushka, een pop die tot leven komt door een vleugje vitaliteit en emoties, verweeft zich met Wagners Siegfried en L'arbre des songes (De boom der dromen), het Concerto voor viool en orkest van Henri Dutilleux, opgedragen aan Isaac Stern en uitgevoerd door de getalenteerde Zwitserse violist Sebastian Bohren. Het concerto van Dutilleux uit 1985 brengt de solist dichter bij het orkest, terwijl Wagners Waldweben het betoverende bos oproept waar Siegfried in de tweede akte van de opera zijn toevlucht zoekt. Jac van Steens rijke ervaring zal het publiek door deze dromerige reis leiden.

Known colloquially as 'La Verdi', Milan's famed symphony orchestra was formed in the early 90s to supplement the city's already‐generous cultural offering. Making its home in Milan's Auditorio, La Verdi features among Europe's most respected and admired symphonic ensembles. Its first Musical Director, Ricardo Chailly, now holds the title of Conductor Laureate, while the Austrian conductor, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a fast‐rising star in the orchestral firmament took over the role of Musical Director in 2024, following in the footsteps of several major names in the classical world. La Verdi welcomes a starry roster of soloists and guest conductors over the course of an extensive and varied annual season, and regularly features as guests of honour at important state occasions and international concert engagements.
