In 1870 componeerde Richard Wagner een charmant instrumentaal stuk, Siegfried Idyll, voor 13 instrumenten als verjaardagscadeau voor zijn vrouw Cosima, die onlangs bevallen was van hun geliefde zoon Siegfried. De première werd als verrassing opgevoerd toen Cosima op kerstochtend wakker werd in hun familievilla in Tribschen, nabij Luzern. Hoewel de Idyll een tedere en emotionele intimiteit uitstraalt, wordt het op intrigerende wijze gecombineerd met een contrasterend werk: Bruckners Zevende symfonie, die groots en plechtig is en ontworpen om te betoveren met zijn majestueuze klank en de spirituele kracht die het uitstraalt.

| Orkest: | Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi Known colloquially as 'La Verdi', Milan's famed symphony orchestra was formed in the early 90s to supplement the city's already‐generous cultural offering. Making its home in Milan's Auditorio, La Verdi features among Europe's most respected and admired symphonic ensembles. Its first Musical Director, Ricardo Chailly, now holds the title of Conductor Laureate, while the Austrian conductor, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a fast‐rising star in the orchestral firmament took over the role of Musical Director in 2024, following in the footsteps of several major names in the classical world. La Verdi welcomes a starry roster of soloists and guest conductors over the course of an extensive and varied annual season, and regularly features as guests of honour at important state occasions and international concert engagements. |
