Twee landen, twee muzikale landschappen. Aan de ene kant de ijzige uitgestrektheid van Finland, waar Jean Sibelius een imposante figuur in de muziekwereld is, aan de andere kant de warme bries van Andalusië, het thuisland van Manuel de Falla, een cultureel kruispunt vol charme. Dit programma ontvouwt zich als een reeks symfonische impressies, waarbij muziek een 'feest van klankkleuren en ritmes' wordt, dat op briljante wijze de unieke en betoverende taferelen van deze twee landen weergeeft: van La vida breve tot Noches en los jardines de España voor piano en orkest, met als hoogtepunt Sibelius' majestueuze Symfonie nr. 2, het ultieme 'klankmanifest' van het Finse erfgoed.

Known colloquially as 'La Verdi', Milan's famed symphony orchestra was formed in the early 90s to supplement the city's already‐generous cultural offering. Making its home in Milan's Auditorio, La Verdi features among Europe's most respected and admired symphonic ensembles. Its first Musical Director, Ricardo Chailly, now holds the title of Conductor Laureate, while the Austrian conductor, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a fast‐rising star in the orchestral firmament took over the role of Musical Director in 2024, following in the footsteps of several major names in the classical world. La Verdi welcomes a starry roster of soloists and guest conductors over the course of an extensive and varied annual season, and regularly features as guests of honour at important state occasions and international concert engagements.
