Aan het begin van een nieuw tijdperk verbindt dit programma twee fundamentele stukken uit het repertoire met een nieuwe compositie. Het eerste stuk is Rachmaninovs Concerto nr. 2, dat straalt van postromantische passie en de ware essentie van Tsjaikovski's nalatenschap weerspiegelt. Daarna volgt Beethovens Zevende, een symfonisch juweeltje waarin elk van de vier delen een waardevolle ervaring biedt voor de luisteraar. Het concert begint met Nicola Campogrande's nieuwste werk, Gioco di squadra (Teamwork), dat wereldwijd in première gaat als een muzikaal eerbetoon aan de Olympische Winterspelen van Milaan Cortina 2026.

Orkest: Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi

Known colloquially as 'La Verdi', Milan's famed symphony orchestra was formed in the early 90s to supplement the city's already‐generous cultural offering. Making its home in Milan's Auditorio, La Verdi features among Europe's most respected and admired symphonic ensembles. Its first Musical Director, Ricardo Chailly, now holds the title of Conductor Laureate, while the Austrian conductor, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a fast‐rising star in the orchestral firmament took over the role of Musical Director in 2024, following in the footsteps of several major names in the classical world. La Verdi welcomes a starry roster of soloists and guest conductors over the course of an extensive and varied annual season, and regularly features as guests of honour at important state occasions and international concert engagements.
