Het Orchestra Sinfonica di Miano eert de diepgaande creativiteit van een grootheid uit de 20e eeuw: Luciano Berio, die tussen 2000 en 2003 ere‐dirigent was van LaVerdi. Het Milan Symphony Orchestra onthult het openingsconcert van Compass, een recital voor piano en orkest (1994), waarin muziek en architectuur op prachtige wijze samensmelten. Dit is de perfecte viering van Berio's honderdste geboortedag, met een 'Florentijns' ensemble van uitzonderlijke musici: Andrea Lucchesini op piano en Diego Ceretta als dirigent. Samen met het orkest brengen ze een programma dat Ravel's Valses nobles et sentimentales en Respighi's Fontane di Roma naadloos met elkaar verbindt.

Known colloquially as 'La Verdi', Milan's famed symphony orchestra was formed in the early 90s to supplement the city's already‐generous cultural offering. Making its home in Milan's Auditorio, La Verdi features among Europe's most respected and admired symphonic ensembles. Its first Musical Director, Ricardo Chailly, now holds the title of Conductor Laureate, while the Austrian conductor, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a fast‐rising star in the orchestral firmament took over the role of Musical Director in 2024, following in the footsteps of several major names in the classical world. La Verdi welcomes a starry roster of soloists and guest conductors over the course of an extensive and varied annual season, and regularly features as guests of honour at important state occasions and international concert engagements.
