Van Wagners dramatische theatrale visie tot Mendelssohns muzikale portret van Italië: dit programma brengt drie kenmerkende stemmen uit de Duitse romantische traditie samen in een reis vol kleur, lyriek en orkestrale levendigheid.
De avond begint met Wagners *Tannhäuser‐ouverture*, een werk vol uitgesproken contrasten dat de spirituele en dramatische conflicten introduceert die de kern van de opera vormen. Daarna volgt Max Bruchs *Dubbelconcert voor klarinet, altviool en orkest in e mineur*, waarin expressieve warmte, lyrische schoonheid en een verfijnde dialoog tussen de twee solo‐instrumenten samenkomen.
Het concert wordt afgesloten met Felix Mendelssohns *Symfonie nr. 4 in A majeur*, de beroemde *Italiaanse symfonie*. Geïnspireerd door de reizen van de componist door Italië, weet het werk een gevoel van licht, beweging en jeugdige energie vast te leggen door middel van enkele van Mendelssohns meest briljante orkestrale composities.
Onder leiding van Emmanuel Tjeknavorian belicht het programma de diversiteit van de negentiende‐eeuwse muzikale expressie, van operadrama en intieme lyriek tot de stralende geest van een van de meest geliefde symfonieën uit het repertoire.

| Orkest: | Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi Known colloquially as 'La Verdi', Milan's famed symphony orchestra was formed in the early 90s to supplement the city's already‐generous cultural offering. Making its home in Milan's Auditorio, La Verdi features among Europe's most respected and admired symphonic ensembles. Its first Musical Director, Ricardo Chailly, now holds the title of Conductor Laureate, while the Austrian conductor, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a fast‐rising star in the orchestral firmament took over the role of Musical Director in 2024, following in the footsteps of several major names in the classical world. La Verdi welcomes a starry roster of soloists and guest conductors over the course of an extensive and varied annual season, and regularly features as guests of honour at important state occasions and international concert engagements. |
