Na het veelgeprezen debuut in 2024 keert de prestigieuze Edinburgh International Royal Mile Piano Series terug met een complete cyclus van Beethovens 32 pianosonates, uitgevoerd tijdens het seizoen 2025‐2026. Met uitzonderlijk talent van vooraanstaande Britse en internationale pianisten biedt elk recital een uniek perspectief op enkele van de meest diepzinnige en geliefde werken uit het pianorepertoire.

Tegen de prachtige achtergrond van St Giles' Cathedral – verlicht door kaarslicht en versterkt door een nieuw geïnstalleerde Steinway‐vleugel – beloven deze concerten een onvergetelijke muzikale ervaring in het hart van de historische Royal Mile van Edinburgh.

Kunstenaars

Orkest: The Alma Rosé Chamber Orchestra and Soloists

The ensemble is named after the austrian violist and conducter Alma Rosé.

Her uncle was the composer Gustav Mahler. Alma Rosé was deported by the Nazis to the infamous concentration camp at Auschwitz‐Birkenau. There she directed an orchestra of terrified prisoners who played to their captors in order that they should stay alive.

In 1932 she founded the woman’s orchestra Die Wiener Walzermädeln (The Waltzing Girls of Vienna). The ensemble played to a very high standard, undertaking concert tours throughout Europe. Her program included mainly popular songs and melodies from the viennese operetta.
