Rendez hommage au grand chef d'orchestre et violoncelliste Mtislav Rostropovich avec le Konzerthaus. Sol Gabetta interprète les Variations Roccoco de Tchaïkovski tandis qu'Iván Fischer dirige Bernstein, Rodion Shchedrin et la Cinquième Symphonie de Prokofiev.
Lyrique et mélodieuse, la Cinquième Symphonie occupe une place centrale dans le répertoire symphonique depuis sa première en 1944. Slava, Slava de Shchedrin fut commandée pour célébrer le 70ème anniversaire de Rostropovich, tandis que Slava! A Political Overture de Bernstein a été interprétée à l'occasion des concerts inauguraux de Rostropovich en tant que chef d'orchestre principal de l'America's National Symphony Orchestra.
