With the Laeiszhalle a dream of the Hamburg citizen became reality: Exclusively for the music, which they estimated and promoted, they had wished themselves a new performance place — one, at which they could maintain the own tradition and receive artists from all world as their guests. By a generous donation of the shipowner Carl Laeisz and his women Sophie the desire could be fulfilled.
