Principal conductor Marek Janowski has extended his contract as artistic director of the Rundfunk‐Sinfonieorchester Berlin until the end of 2011. He has left his imprint on the orchestra since September 2002. Acclaimed worldwide for his readings of Wagner, Strauss and Bruckner, Janowski assures the RSB of an eminent place in Germany’s orchestra scene. His recordings with the RSB have won many international awards.

'Music is the crux of the matter' is the motto of the Rundfunk‐Sinfonieorchester Berlin. The orchestra is committed to a vibrant concert life focussing on listening to and wrestling with the work in question and exploring its spiritual background. In this way each concert becomes an emotional and cognitive experience. The newly established Schlüterhof Concerts in Berlin’s Museum of German History will be a major highlight of the season.
