The opening concert of the 2012 Bologna Festival hosts the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, conducted by the Maestro Antonio Pappano.

Baroque vocal and symphonic works of Handel and Bach, symphonies and chamber music of Bruckner, Brahms and Beethoven, New Music's masters and protagonists of the twentieth century with Arnold Schoenberg and Wolfgang Rihm. They are the thematic lines of the thirty‐first edition of the Bologna Festival.
