Europe et Amérique. Ce programme réunit Martinů et Dvořák, deux compositeurs qui, malgré les circonstances, sont devenus des citoyens du monde après avoir quitté leur patrie, aujourd'hui connue sous le nom de République tchèque. Le programme commence par l'ouverture Carnaval de Dvořák. À la fin du XIXe siècle, il a traversé l'Atlantique pour diriger le Conservatoire de New York. Le Rhapsody‐Concerto pour alto et orchestre de Martinů, une œuvre rare et exigeante, figure également au programme, reflétant son départ forcé d'Europe pendant la période sombre de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Ce programme complexe culmine avec la Symphonie rhénane de Schumann sous la direction de Cornelius Meister, directeur musical général de l'Opéra national de Stuttgart depuis 2018, mettant en vedette Sarah McElravy à l'alto, une artiste polyvalente aussi douée au violon qu'à l'alto.

| Orchestre: | Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi Known colloquially as 'La Verdi', Milan's famed symphony orchestra was formed in the early 90s to supplement the city's already‐generous cultural offering. Making its home in Milan's Auditorio, La Verdi features among Europe's most respected and admired symphonic ensembles. Its first Musical Director, Ricardo Chailly, now holds the title of Conductor Laureate, while the Austrian conductor, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a fast‐rising star in the orchestral firmament took over the role of Musical Director in 2024, following in the footsteps of several major names in the classical world. La Verdi welcomes a starry roster of soloists and guest conductors over the course of an extensive and varied annual season, and regularly features as guests of honour at important state occasions and international concert engagements. |
