Un programme qui résume les influences contrastées de l'après‐guerre : les États‐Unis et l'Union soviétique. Deux visions du monde et deux expressions artistiques distinctes sont capturées avec vivacité dans la musique de Chostakovitch, en particulier dans sa Cinquième Symphonie – une réponse à la désapprobation du régime stalinien à l'égard de sa Lady Macbeth du district de Mtsensk – et dans les œuvres de Bernstein et Barber, qui ont su préserver leur identité artistique dans l'Amérique maccarthyste. Sous la direction musicale d'Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, le programme s'ouvre avec l'ouverture de Candide de Bernstein et met en vedette Anne Akiko Meyers en tant que soliste dans le Concerto pour violon et orchestre, op. 14 de Barber.

| Orchestre: | Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi Known colloquially as 'La Verdi', Milan's famed symphony orchestra was formed in the early 90s to supplement the city's already‐generous cultural offering. Making its home in Milan's Auditorio, La Verdi features among Europe's most respected and admired symphonic ensembles. Its first Musical Director, Ricardo Chailly, now holds the title of Conductor Laureate, while the Austrian conductor, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a fast‐rising star in the orchestral firmament took over the role of Musical Director in 2024, following in the footsteps of several major names in the classical world. La Verdi welcomes a starry roster of soloists and guest conductors over the course of an extensive and varied annual season, and regularly features as guests of honour at important state occasions and international concert engagements. |
