Les concerts de piano à la lueur des bougies rendent hommage au compositeur polonais exceptionnel et extrêmement populaire, Fryderyk Chopin. Reconnu dans le monde entier, Chopin figure parmi les légendes de l'histoire de la musique, ses œuvres comptant parmi les plus belles pièces pour piano jamais composées.
Outre une sélection d'œuvres de Chopin, le programme du concert comprend les plus belles compositions pour piano de compositeurs célèbres tels que Bach, Beethoven, Liszt, Schumann et Rachmaninov.
La particularité de ces concerts réside principalement dans leur cadre : l'église rectorale des Pères Carmélites de Sainte‐Catherine. Cette vaste église gothique du XIIIe siècle est réputée pour son acoustique exceptionnelle. Écouter de la musique au piano à la lueur des bougies dans un tel lieu promet un voyage émotionnel inoubliable, qui laissera un souvenir impérissable.
À Gdańsk, c'est la seule occasion d'assister à un concert de piano dans une église !

Excellent pianist but too much 'modern' classical which was not to our taste. We had paid to hear a Chopin concert and we expected the majority of the programme to be just this. Very disappointing.

Extremely talented pianist, who played variety of works from Chopin to Schumann beautifully. St Catherine's a perfect setting for such a performance.

I had an absolutely wonderful evening at St. Catherine's candlelight performance. I don't know the performer's name (but he introduced himself having started playing piano at age 9, and he is now 21), he was SO TALENTED — wonderful execution of a program that highlighted Chopin but also a Liszt tribute to Chopin, a piece by an Italian, Scarlatti, and his closing piece by Polish composer (& PM) Pederweski. He introduced each piece in English and Polish, and the surroundings with candles and the church incense in the air, and the beautiful gothic architecture, just magnificent. They had space heaters which was a wonderful help in the chilled air, could not more enthusiastically recommend this experience. Thank you.

Het was prachtig, een mooie setting en de pianist was geweldig. Het was wel heel erg koud in de kerk, maar dat heeft niemand in de hand natuurlijk.

Setting in the church was great. The pianist, although clearly nervous and performance‐inexperienced was an excellent musician. What was missing was any information the programme or pieces we were listening to. At the price paid a small printed page of the evenings set would have been appreciated and appropriate.
