Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Idomeneo

Sobre el espectáculo

As part of the düsseldorf festival!, Wolfgang Abendroth conducts the düsseldorf festival orchestra and the Düsseldorf chamber choir in this concert performance of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's opera Idomeneo.

The opera, a work that Mozart himself repeatedly referred to as a favorite of his, tells the story of Idomeneo's dilemma. Out at sea during a storm, he is saved from drowning by Neptune, the god of the sea. In exchange he has promised to sacrifice to him the first man he encounters upon his return to Crete, not knowing that his own son, Idamante, will be the first man to greet him on the shore.
