Music of the World Glasbe sveta '12 : Deolinda
Sobre el espectáculo
At the Music of the World Festival Glasbe sveta '12, the popular Portuguese group Deolinda will be presented.
A musical pillar of Portugal, the Lisbon‐based Deolinda is one of the most popular Portuguese groups, nationally and internationally. The songs of Pedro da Silva Martins transmit a wide range of tasty ingredients that don't rely on instrumental technology. Brightness, agility, sensitivity; clairvoyance and wisdom in uncommon surroundings (and therefore clothed in satire). Then there’s a peculiar joy in the understanding – when the view is expressed in words, articulated in a fluid language, exquisite and correct. And if it seems so easy when sung, there are probably two reasons for that. The first and the obvious one, is the level of mastery at which Ana Bacalhau is presenting her art. The second one is the instrumental texture that evokes and integrates several musical shapes, from the ancient to the most recent ones; resourcefulness without artifice.
The Festival:
The new Music of the World season offers an assortment of national music heroes who have succeeded in captivating international audiences and becoming protégés of the world’s finest music agencies. It comes as no surprise that two of the series’ artists come from a country where music serves as the last bastion of plurality and harmonious coexistence. Witness unparalleled singers and virtuosos on some of the rarest instruments of this planet. And there is also a concert that neglects the faculty of sight in favour of hearing: Given by blind musicians, the event aims at providing an emphatic sonic experience in the dark. Music to be heard as well as sensed.
