Sobre el espectáculo

Schumann’s Piano Quintet heralds a remarkable lineage of works dedicated to this ensemble. In 1842, the composer was a pioneer: while piano trios and quartets were well‐represented during the Classical period, the piano quintet existed almost exclusively in the form of concertos arranged for this ensemble. The chamber version of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12 reflects this widespread practice. As the soloist in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, Javier Perianes reunites with musicians he knows well in the intimate setting of the Salle Cortot. The quintet’s performance highlights the subtlety of the instrumental blend and the precision of the pianist’s touch. Schumann, in fact, composed his Quintet to showcase the dazzling virtuosity of his wife, Clara. With this expansive and generous work, the quintet establishes itself as a preeminent genre of Romanticism.
