Eglise Saint-Ephrem
Situada en un rincón aislado del histórico quinto distrito de París, también conocido como el Barrio Latino, esta pequeña y pintoresca iglesia es realmente una joya escondida. Construida en 1733 en estilo corintio, este templo fue utilizado por diferentes órdenes religiosas hasta finales del siglo XIX, cuando se convirtió en un centro de los movimientos sociales católicos fundados por Robert y Albert de Mun. El interior está adornado clásicamente con una impresionante colección de pinturas. La Iglesia Saint-Ephrem es un lugar popular para conciertos de música clásica, ya que su atmósfera acogedora e íntima y su gran acústica atraen tanto a los locales como a los turistas.
Franz Schubert
Franz Schubert nació en 1797 en los suburbios de Viena. Su padre y su hermano mayor eran músicos aficionados y le enseñaron a tocar el piano y el violín. A la edad de 11 años, Schubert fue corista en la parroquia de Lichtenthal, después hizo una audición para Antonio Salieri y se unió al coro del emperador. Durante ese tiempo, el joven Schubert también comenzó a componer, con la tutela y guía del músico mayor. En 1814 Schubert comenzó a enseñar en la misma escuela parroquial que su padre. Ludwig van Beethoven

Frederic Chopin
Frederic Chopin fue un compositor y pianista virtuoso polaco de principios del siglo XIX. Aunque Chopin escribió principalmente obras cortas para piano, su catálogo también incluye conciertos para piano, piezas de cámara y canciones con letras polacas. A Chopin se le atribuye la creación del concepto de la balada instrumental, y sus interpretaciones se destacaron por su sensibilidad y fino detalle. Chopin pasó la mayor parte de su vida adulta en París, y actuó en el ambiente íntimo de los salones de la sociedad. Tuvo problemas de salud y murió a los 39 años de edad, probablemente de tuberculosis.

The intimate setting with candlelight was really amazing. And the program of many Chopin pieces, Eric Satie, Schubert and Beethoven was executed with brilliant mastery and great emotion by the pianist. I highly recommend this unique venue and the high quality of the concert. 5 stars.

I was disappointed with the Beethoven and Schubert offerings. Two of three movements were omitted in the Moonlight Sonata, and the Schubert Impromptus were similarly truncated. The Chopin pieces went well.

Der Pianist war hervorragend. Das Innere der Kirch mit den Vorhängen fand ich nicht so ansprechen. Die Akustik war jedoch gut, ft etwas zu laut. Kerzen hätte es bei Tageslicht nicht gebraucht. War aber trotzdem ein tolles Erlebnis

Incredible performance. We are not from France so we bought tickets in advance and hoped for the best. The venue was quiet and charming, the crowd was intimate and unpretentious, and the one hour of music recharged our souls. It was so memorable that I’ll look for local concerts in future travels.

Very nice technique and acquantance with Chopin's work. However, the interpretation of Satie's pieces, with sudden speed changes instead of playing with dynamics, is questionable.

Je n’ai reconnu ni Chopin, ni Satie. J’ai eu l’impression que le pianiste changeait de tempo à contre‐temps. Ses mains étaient d’une lourdeur insensée pour les compositeurs choisis. Moi je n’ai tenu qu’une demie heure et suis sorti en me demandant si l’interprète était dans son état normal. Mes invités sont restés jusqu’à la fin. Ils m’ont dit que le plus massacré avait été Schubert et m’ont rapporté que le pianiste avait fait à la fin du racolage en offrant ses services de professeur pour les débutants ou pour les non débutant ou même pour les confirmés…. Un désastre !

Adrien Polycarpe was fantastic‐ he introduced each composition that he was playing. he plays with such skill and each note struck with such clarity. would love to listen to another of his concerts‐ I am a huge fan of Chopin so I am doubly happy he played many of his nocturnes and waltzes (including one prelude)

Small church filled with a packed house. Candles in the corners in candelabras, quiet, intimate. Pianist was superb. Memorable evening. Would definitely do again.
