Travel to the Far East while staying in Beirut for a performance of Stravinsky's opera about a woodland bird.
In China, the Emperor delights in the sound of a nightingale's song, but the bird becomes jealous of the gift of a mechanical version, and flies away. The Emperor angrily banishes the forest songbird, but falls ill. The Court musicians tempt the bird back, and her song revives the ailing monarch.
