The programme presents Bach's Mass in B minor BWV 232 for soloists, chorus and orchestra. Performed for the first time in 1834, this Missa Solemnis is a collage of music. Bach composed the initial parts, Sanctus, Kyrie and Gloria, in 1724 and 1733, to get the call as organist in the chapel of the court of the Duke of Saxony. Credus, Hosanna and the rest of the Mass date from the last years of the composer's life, between 1747 and 1749.
