Members of the Berlin Philharmonic: Ravel, Debussy & Brahms, Cité de la Musique
Über die Veranstaltung
The gorgeous Brahms Quintet for clarinet and strings, written in 1891, contains echoes of Mozart's quintet for the same combination.
Debussy, whose Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun was written just one year later than the Brahms Quintet, began a project of sonatas during the First World War; the second of the series, for flute, viola, and harp, is a true masterwork of melding timbres.
This evening's soloists are:
Emmanuel Pahud, flute
Paul Meyer, clarinet
Marie‐Pierre Langlamet, harp
Daishin Kashimoto, violin
Maja Avramovic, violin
Amihai Grosz, viola
Raphaël Pidoux, cello
