Über die Veranstaltung
Die britische Kompositionstradition blickt auf eine reiche, glanzvolle Geschichte zurück und entwickelte sich mit Komponisten wie Purcell, Gibbons und dem „adoptierten“ Händel zu einer außergewöhnlichen Musikschule. Von den edwardianischen Einflüssen des begabten Elgar, dessen Enigma‐Variationen von 1899 seinen Ruf als geschätzter englischer Komponist festigten, bis hin zu William Walton, bekannt für seine brillant unterhaltsame Façade Suite, und Ethel Smyth, deren Konzert für die einzigartige Kombination von Horn und Violine eines ihrer späteren Werke darstellt. Begleitet werden wir auf dieser Reise über den Ärmelkanal von Anna Rakitina, Dirigentin und Preisträgerin des renommierten European Culture Award 2025.

| Orchester: | Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi Known colloquially as 'La Verdi', Milan's famed symphony orchestra was formed in the early 90s to supplement the city's already‐generous cultural offering. Making its home in Milan's Auditorio, La Verdi features among Europe's most respected and admired symphonic ensembles. Its first Musical Director, Ricardo Chailly, now holds the title of Conductor Laureate, while the Austrian conductor, Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, a fast‐rising star in the orchestral firmament took over the role of Musical Director in 2024, following in the footsteps of several major names in the classical world. La Verdi welcomes a starry roster of soloists and guest conductors over the course of an extensive and varied annual season, and regularly features as guests of honour at important state occasions and international concert engagements. |
