Über die Veranstaltung

The only opera composed by Margravine Wilhelmine von Bayreuth will be performed on the occasion of her 300th birthday.

In the Baroque era, opera was an entertaining social occasion. Due attention was given to the events on stage, which were openly commented upon. Yet even more interest was devoted to news about relationships, affairs, and intrigue. Now and again, a particularly successful aria would be awarded with a round of applause. Food and drink were an integral part of the whole event.

On May 9, this historical tradition will be revived. An exclusive 5‐course menu will be served in the A and B category seats at orchestra level,  which will be arranged with tables and chairs rather than rowed seating. Visitors in the balconies — categories E, F, G, and H — will enjoy a 3‐course buffet in the two balcony halls of the opera house.

On May 8 and 10, the opera will be performed without a culinary offering.
