Julius Caesar: Finnish National Opera

Sobre el espectáculo

The Finnish National Opera presents the premiere of an exciting new production of Handel's baroque opera: Giulio Cesare (Julius Caesar).

Passion runs deep when Roman Emperor Giulio Cesare arrives in Egypt and encounters the beautiful Cleopatra for the first time. In 1724, the German composer Georg Friedrich Händel fashioned a popular opera around this fateful meeting; his brilliant music complementing a strong dramatic storyline.

This much‐anticipated baroque opera will hit the Finnish National Opera Main Stage in a new, exciting guise.  While the music is performed as originally written on authentic period instruments, the visualization of the opera will utilize innovative state‐of‐the‐art lighting and projection technology. The ever‐inventive Ville Saukkonen is scheduled to direct, while the lighting design will be carried out by Patrick Woodroffe, one of the most prominent lighting professionals in the field today, whose credits include Michael Jackson and Rolling Stones concerts in addition to numerous operas and ballets.
