Listen to contemporary music by Glass and Corp with the Vogler Quartett, which has been enjoying a unique career worldwide since 1985 with an unchanged line‐up. Originally Philipp Glass had planned his second string quartet as instrumental music for Fred Neumann's adaptation of Samuel Beckett's play 'Company', but he decided to make it an independent work. Although it traditionally has four movements, the work only lasts about 10 minutes. 'Letters from Lony' by Corp was premiered in 2017 and has a sad background: in 1938 Lony Rabl‐Fraenkel fled from the persecution of the Jews to Amsterdam. There she wrote 22 touching letters to her family, who had fled to England, and to her grandson, whom she was never to meet because of her being murdered in a concentration camp in 1944.
