The Most Beautiful Christmas Carols: Poznan Boys' Choir at French Cathedral

O wydarzeniu

Immerse yourself in the stunning architecture of Berlin's breathtaking French Cathedral for the ultimate concert set to awake your understanding of classical music.

In 2003, the Lord Mayor of Poznań initiated a boys' choir that is now one of the most famous European boys' choirs, with over 3000 concerts in a wide variety of countries and concert halls on four continents. The ensemble is led by composer and conductor Jacek Sykulski. Paying homage to tradition, it brings a new quality to world choral music by, among other things, introducing its own modern techniques of voice training and presenting both classical and contemporary music like world premieres with equal energy and joy.
On the 3rd and 4th weekends of Advent, the Poznan Boys' Choir will bring the most beautiful German and European Christmas carols to Berlin. In the unique acoustics of the Friedrichstadtkirche at the Französischer Dom, young, clear, highly professional voices resound as they are rarely heard in the capital.

French Cathedral
The French Church Französischer Dom is one of the three key buildings at the Gendarmenmarkt, the most beautiful square in Berlin. The church was built as a place of worship for the Huguenots, followers of the Protestant Reformed Church of France, who were persecuted in their own country and found asylum in Berlin in the reign of Frederick the Great.

The French Cathedral stands opposite the German Church or Neue Kirche, their identical domes and styles forming a stunning architectural ensemble. Unusually, in this location, 'Dom' refers not to a German 'cathedral', but to the French 'dome'. The building houses the Huguenot museum, a restaurant and a viewing platform that offers a gorgeous view of Mitte district of Berlin.
