In her piano recital, the famous Khatia Buniatishvili sheds new light on Franz Liszt's Schubert transcriptions by framing them with original works by the two composers.

Franz Liszt was not only a pianist, apparently without playful boundaries, but also a poetic and at the same time enterprising composer. In pre‐medial times there was more demand for scores than could be composed, so transcriptions were a proven method for Liszt to bring popular melodies back to the market. This also includes the songs of Franz Schubert, who was completely unknown outside Vienna at the time.
