Lalande : Grands Motets at Versailles

O wydarzeniu

Hear music written explicitly for the Royal Chapel at Versailles, performed by the musicians of the palace's Center for Baroque Music. Succeeding the great Lully, Michel‐Richard de Lalande was Louis XIV's Master of Music for the Chapel Royal from its dedication in 1710.

Written with the acoustic of the new chapel at the forefront of his minds' ear, Lalande composed the Grands Motets beloved of the King for their grandeur, with soloists, large orchestra and choir each used to the height of their abilities. Director of the Center for Baroque Music Olivier Schneebeli conducts the Pages and Cantors, and an expert team of soloists, in the creations of this master of the French Baroque.
