Justin Taylor (harpsichord) at Capella de Santa Àgata

O wydarzeniu

Justin Taylor is a new harpsichord phenomenon. At just 23, he has already won the ‎prestigious International Harpsichord Competition in Bruges and also the Audience Prize and ‎Alpha Prize for his album. Thanks to this last award, the Forqueray Family project was born, a ‎story interwoven with jealousies and intrigue. The Forquerays were a family of French ‎musicians in the 17th and 18th centuries. Antoine, a virtuoso on the viola da gamba, was ‎considered one of the most gifted musicians of his time. His son Jean‐Baptiste, born in 1699, ‎was a child prodigy who played for King Louis XIV. The relationship between father and son ‎was marked by envy and resentment, passions that would lead Antoine to exile his son from ‎France. Taylor shows us part of this tempestuous story in the concert he will offer as part of ‎the Lights of Early Music Festival. The music of father and son, together with that of leading ‎composers of their age such as Jacques Duphly and Jean‐Philippe Rameau, will take us on a ‎journey through the most diverse emotions, from meditative gentleness to the most fiery ‎tempestuousness.
