O wydarzeniu
Po rekordowym sukcesie odniesionym podczas ostatnich festiwali opera „Aida” powraca na scenę w „kryształowej” oprawie.
Stefano Poda opowiada historię Verdiego poprzez niespotykaną dotąd grę światła, przezroczystości i kolorów, łącząc starożytny Egipt z modą haute couture i sztuką współczesną, uzyskując w ten sposób oryginalny, urzekający i olśniewający efekt.
Starożytny Egipt zyskuje współczesną oprawę dzięki arenie z czasów rzymskich, podczas gdy potężna partytura Verdiego, zarówno liryczna, jak i dramatyczna, toczy się ku tragicznemu zakończeniu.
„Aida” to opera w czterech aktach skomponowana przez Giuseppe Verdiego do libretta Antonio Ghislanzoniego.
Akt 1
Ramfis, arcykapłan Egiptu, informuje Radamèsa, że wojna z Etiopczykami wydaje się nieunikniona. Radamès ma nadzieję, że zostanie wybrany na egipskiego dowódcę, marząc zarówno o zwycięstwie, jak i o Aidzie, etiopskiej niewolnicy, w której potajemnie się zakochał. Aida, która odwzajemnia miłość Radamèsa, jest córką etiopskiego króla Amonasro, co ukrywa przed swoimi egipskimi porywaczami.
Wchodzi Amneris, córka faraona. Ona również kocha Radamèsa, ale obawia się, że Aida może być jej rywalką. Wchodzi faraon wraz z arcykapłanem i całym dworem, aby przekazać wiadomość, że Etiopczycy maszerują na Teby. Król wypowiada wojnę i mianuje Radamèsa dowódcą armii.
Pozostawiona sama, Aida jest rozdarta między miłością do ojca, ojczyzny i Radamèsa.
Radamès zostaje mianowany głównodowodzącym. Egipcjanie modlą się o zwycięstwo i ochronę dla swoich wojowników.
Akt II
Świętuje się zwycięstwo Radamesa, ale Amneris wątpi w miłość Radamesa i podejrzewa, że to Aida jest w nim zakochana. Kiedy Aida wchodzi do komnaty, Amneris okłamuje ją, mówiąc, że Radames zginął w bitwie. Zszokowana i pogrążona w żałobie Aida wyznaje swoją miłość do Radamesa. Amneris wpada w furię i przysięga Aidzie zemstę.
Radamès powraca, a wojska wkraczają triumfalnie do miasta. Faraon oświadcza, że Radamès może otrzymać wszystko, czego zapragnie. Na scenę wyprowadzono w kajdanach etiopskich jeńców, wśród których znajduje się król Amonasro. Amonasro ogłasza Egipcjanom, że król Etiopii poległ w bitwie, a jeńcy błagają egipskiego króla o łaskę, jednak Ramfis i egipscy kapłani domagają się śmierci więźniów. Radamès, powołując się na obiecaną przez króla nagrodę, błaga o łaskę dla więźniów. Król spełnia prośbę Radamèsa, ogłaszając, że Radamès zostanie jego następcą tronu i poślubi Amneris. Aida i Amonasro pozostaną zakładnikami, aby zapewnić, że Etiopczycy nie zemściją się za swoją porażkę.
Akt III
W przeddzień ślubu Amneris i Radamèsa Aida czeka przed świątynią Izydy, by spotkać się z Radamèsem. Pojawia się Amonasro i nakazuje Aidzie ustalić położenie armii egipskiej. Aida niechętnie się zgadza.
Amonasro chowa się za skałą i podsłuchuje rozmowę Aidy i Radamèsa. Radamès przysięga, że poślubi Aidę, a Aida przekonuje go, by uciekł z nią. Radamès proponuje bezpieczną trasę, ujawniając w ten sposób pozycję swojej armii. Amonasro wychodzi z ukrycia i ujawnia swoją tożsamość. Radamès zdaje sobie sprawę, że nieświadomie wyjawił wrogowi kluczową tajemnicę wojskową.
Amneris i Ramfis opuszczają świątynię i wzywają straż cesarską. Amonasro wyciąga sztylet, ale Radamès go rozbraja. Rozkazując Amonasro, by uciekł z Aidą, Radamès poddaje się straży cesarskiej, która aresztuje go jako zdrajcę.
Akt 4
Amneris wzywa straż, by przyprowadziła do niej Radamèsa, i prosi go, by zaprzeczył oskarżeniom, ale on odmawia. Ramfis odczytuje zarzuty, Radamès odmawia obrony i zostaje skazany na śmierć. Amneris protestuje, twierdząc, że Radamés jest niewinny, i błaga o łaskę, ale zostaje on skazany na pogrzebanie żywcem.
Radamés został zamknięty w ciemnym grobowcu. Słyszy odgłos, a następnie dostrzega Aidę, która ukryła się w grobowcu, by umrzeć wraz z Radamésem. Godzą się ze swoim strasznym losem i żegnają się z Ziemią oraz jej smutkami. Nad kryptą Amneris płacze i modli się do bogini Izydy. Kochankowie umierają w swoich ramionach, podczas gdy kapłani poza sceną modlą się do boga Ftha.

Arena w Weronie
Arena di Verona jest trzecim co do wielkości zachowanym rzymskim amfiteatrem. Zbudowana około 30 roku n.e., Arena zalicza się również do najlepiej zachowanych amfiteatrów tego okresu. Jej gigantyczne wymiary (140 metrów długości i 100 metrów szerokości) oraz trybuny mogące pomieścić ponad 30 000 widzów sprawiają, że dominuje ona nad północną częścią Piazza Bra. Doskonała akustyka i wspaniała lokalizacja sprawiają, że jest to idealne miejsce do organizowania wielkich przedstawień operowych. Zabytkowa budowla została ponownie uruchomiona jako teatr w okresie renesansu, a w 1913 roku tradycja operowa w Arenie w Weronie rozpoczęła się od wystawienia opery „Aida” Giuseppe Verdiego.
Giuseppe Verdi
Giuseppe Verdi był włoskim kompozytorem operowym. Od najmłodszych lat kształcił się muzycznie dzięki wsparciu mecenasa i wkrótce zdominował włoską scenę operową. W rzeczywistości już przed ukończeniem 30. roku życia stał się jednym z najbardziej wpływowych kompozytorów operowych na całej scenie klasycznej. Jego najsłynniejsze opery to „Il Trovatore”, „Rigoletto” i „La Traviata”. Ponadto dzięki dochodom z popularnych oper udało mu się zdobyć pozycję właściciela ziemskiego i skupić się na życiu prywatnym. Wkrótce jednak powrócił na scenę ze swoim nowym, popularnym dziełem „Aida” (1871) oraz trzema arcydziełami: „Otello”, „Requiem” i „Falstaff”.

This event was one of the best experiences of my 80 years. The setting , the music, the choreography and the performers far exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere could not be achieved anywhere else in my opinion. If I lived closer I would attend every performance.

While the principles were good, the choreography and set were awful. Large numbers of ‘extras’ dressed in tin foil walking around to no purpose, constantly distracting from the music and action, all with a pointless ‘hand of fate’ billowing in the background. This was spectacle without meaning. Pretentious without purpose.

E’ stata una esperienza unica, emozionante e coinvolgente. La scenografia molto particolare ma con riferimenti all’egitto, innovativa, che ci trasportava in una realtà diversa ma altrettanto emozionante. Es war ein außergewöhnliches und einzigartiges Erlebnis, dass wir nicht vergessen werden. Die Inszenierung war fantastisch, obwohl wir mehr auf die klassischen Darbietungen wert legen! Also Top Aufführung!! Was ich anmerken möchte, dass kurz vor 21:00 Uhr immer noch Publikum um her schwirrte und Plätze suchte. Das fand ich sehr störend. Die Bestuhlung mit vorher gekauften Kissen ist auszuhalten, obwohl alles äußerst eng ist! Etwas mehr Beinfreiheit wäre wünschenswert! Unverständlicherweise gibt es tatsächlich Menschen, die meinen mit Kindern im Alter von ca. 4‐8 Jahren in eine Oper wie Aida gehen zu müssen und dann mit den müden Kindern die Darbietung früher verlassen mussten und das, aufgrund des Metallaufbaus, sehr geräuschvoll und störend war!

The same comment as for Nabucco ! . It is a spectacle but not any more an opera . Anna Netrpko was anounced in the programm but we had an other soprano! Not so good . The tenor was the best ! The other singers not so good . The orchestra also not so good ! I was a little disappointed . Of course I invited my hole family and the youngers appricieted the “spectacle “ .

Die Umsetzung Aufführung war phantastisch allerdings sind die Sitzgelegenheiten (mit Ausnahme der sehr teuren Sitze im Parkett) eine Zumutung! Schmale, kurze und steil gewinkelte Metallsitze in sehr enger Anordnung zum Vordermann sind für eine Dauer von 3 Stunden einfach nicht zeitgemäß! jeder der größer als 1,50m ist bekommt nach kurzer Zeit Probleme dort zu sitzen. Das schmälert natürlich die Erfahrung des Events ungemein! Wenn man nach 1,5 Stunden nicht mehr weiß wie man sich verlagern soll um halbwegs bequem zu sitzen, nutzt die tolle Inszenierung auf der Bühne nichts. Das Sitzkissen für 6€ hilft da nur minimal.

I was really surprised with all the cenography and special effects this production brought to a classical, upgrading opera to another level. Althought the acoustics of the arena was defying to the singers and orchestra, the visual effects, coreography of the choir surprised me act by act, kepting me breathless. Congratulations on the beautiful performance!
