Zhao Taisheng, sanxian player with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, will demonstrate his musical virtuosity not only through the unique, mystical sounds of the sanxian, but also with other ethnic instruments.

Taisheng will also perform the rewap of Xinjiang, the balalaika of Russia, and the Dan Bau (monochord) of Vietnam. The programme includes As the Waves Wash the Sands, A Village at the Border by Night, Under the Moon and Sounds from Home — a truly exotic selection of music for a unique instrument.
