Gustavo Gimeno, former solo percussionist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, has developed into a much sought‐after conductor. Tonight he returns with an all‐Russian program.

Gimeno's debut in February 2014, when he was filling in for Mariss Jansons, was a sensation. This season he returns with star‐pianist Yuja Wang and Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 2. Tchaikovsky's contemporary, Rimsky‐Korsakov, was an unparalleled orchestrator. His irresistable symphonic suite Scheherazade, based on the tales of a Thousand and One Nights is also featured on the program of the RCO.
