Works by Janáček, Penderecki, and Schumann are featured on this program of the Tonkünstler Orchestra in the historic Musikverein.

Leoš Janáček’s ‘Cunning Little Vixen’ is an enduring audience favorite. The suite from this magical musical fairy tale is conducted by the Estonian conductor Kristiina Poska. Then Xavier de Maistre takes to the stage to play the solo part in one of the few works for harp and orchestra, which will free this fascinating instrument from all prevailing clichés. Both liberation and relief can also be felt in Robert Schumann’s Rhenish Symphony.
