Verdi's bicentenary concert: Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona
O wydarzeniu
Karel Mark Chichon conducts the Symphony Orchestra and Chorus of the Gran Teatre del Liceu to mark the bicentenary of Verdi's birth.
To mark the bicentenary of Verdi's birth, the Gran Teatre del Liceu is opening the 2013‐2014 season with a great Verdi celebration, divided into four tempos or concerts, covering almost the whole of his great operatic oeuvre. An exceptional and unique proposal during an opera season that offers a sweeping overview of a composer's work, who, in himself, could be considered the ultimate representative of the nineteenth‐century Italian repertoire. The programme, which covers his entire catalogue from Oberto, Conte di San Bonifacio to Falstaff, is not limited to offering a chronological view. The Liceu wanted to use this anniversary to reveal some of the best‐kept secrets of Verdi's work, forgotten, rejected or alternative fragments which have been lost from public memory over the course of history. A box of surprises offering us the best of Verdi's voices.
