The Sacred Baroque in Salzburg: Royal Chapel of Versailles

O wydarzeniu

Plunge into a dizzying world — a musical Babel with dozens of individual voices praising God. Versailles' Royal Chapel hosts a recreation of a 1682 celebration in Salzburg, in the expert hands of Collegium 1704.

Václav Luks conducts a rare performance of Heinrich Biber's Missa Salisburgensis, written for no fewer than 53 separate voices, distributed between six chorales. An immense work, of extraordinary proportions, it was composed to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the foundation of the Archbishopric of Salzburg. Monteverdi's Selva Morale e Sprirituale completes a magnificent program, enhanced by its glorious setting.
