South Pacific

O wydarzeniu

For many, Rodgers and Hammerstein's "South Pacific" is one of the most significant musicals of all time, and indeed it had a loyal audience from 1949 to 1954 (with 1,925 performances on Broadway!).

For the premiere in 1949, Ezio Pinza played the principal male role; for the concertante premiere at the Vienna Volksoper, today's leading Italian bass, Ferruccio Furlanetto, will for the first time sing what he considers to be his "dream role".
