Opéra de Baugé presents Gounod's beautiful opera, Romeo and Juliet, at a sixteenth‐century estate in the French countryside.
Romeo and Juliet, Gounod is an opera in five acts by Charles Gounod on the libretto by Jules Barbier et Michel Carré after the play of the same name by William Shakespeare, first performed at the Théâtre‐Lyrique, Paris on 27th April 1867.

Opéra de Baugé is an international opera festival in Anjou, France. It offers its own, new, fully‐staged opera productions each season in a theatre which is specially erected at Les Capucins, Baugé, a historical property dating to the sixteenth century.
During the interval of 90 minutes the members of the audience can picnic in the park of Les Capucins or dine in the restaurant in the manor house (advance booking required). It is possible to bring your own picnic or to order picnic hampers in advance.
