Philip Glass, The Perfect American in Madrid
O wydarzeniu
Enjoy the world premiere of Philip Glass' new Opera, The Perfect American, commissioned by the Teatro Real in Madrid.
At 75 years, Philip Glass, one of the towering figures of 20th century music, has composed a new work for El Real, where its world premiere will take place.
This is the first opera dedicated to Walt Disney, which like no other has influenced the world of current consumption and it is inspired by the novel The Perfect American by Peter Stephan Jungk.
In opposition to that happy world ideology, his youth was marked by misfortune and a personality of a 'political correctness' superior even to that of Richard Nixon. In his factory of dreams, only men could draw. The women were limited to color the drawings.
Hand in hand with Dennis Russell Davies, the musical director, who led almost all the opera premieres of Glass, and stage director Phelim McDermott, we enter the nightmare of a happy world.
