Peer Gynt: Theater an der Wien
O wydarzeniu
Follow Peer into his fantasy world and enjoy Werner Egk's varied score with Charleston elements, tango, muted trumpets and saxophones. The prominent and frequently controversial Peter Konwitschny created this production for Theater an der Wien.
Commissioned by the Berlin State Opera in 1937 Werner Egk's version of "Peer Gynt", the fantastical play by Henry Ibsen, was surprisingly well‐received by the Nazi regime, despite its Kurt Weill‐like musical language.
Sung in German with German surtitles.
